Born in Damour, Lebanon, Elie Saab designed his first dresses at the age of 9.
From his mother’s wardrobe, he collected scraps of tablecloths, sheets and curtains to make clothes for his sisters.
In 1982, aged just 18, the young designer founded his eponymous label, combining the splendour of local craftsmanship with modern, sensual cuts.
His skill was shared, and his reputation soon spread beyond the borders of his native country.
